Title: Oil dry or Quick dry
Post by: star on September 05, 2003, 08:02:53 PM
Have any of you tried putting your ball in a product called Quick dry.
Its a product that you put on spills of liquid to dry them up.
I think its something like Oil dry over there in the USA.
It looks like cat litter and actually feels a bit like it too. It seems to dry out your hands in a split second when you handle it.
I put my Shock Trauma in it for about 24 hours.I used a bucket making sure that all of the ball was covered. After the 24 hours I took the ball out and cleaned it as usual. It was super tacky and seemed to have a much better reaction on the lanes.
I may refil my hand dry bags with this stuff as it really does dry your hands fast.
If anyone has tried it or still use it what do you think. I was quite supprised.

A few years ago someone told me about using the kitty litter to remove oil from the ball.  I gave it a try and it did seem to improve the reaction.  After pulling the ball out of the kitty litter I ran a hairdryer over the ball and didn't get any oil coming to the surface.

Bottom line, if it works, why not.  At least there isn't any chance of damaging the ball using the quick dry.  It seems similar to the new Hook again system from ebonite.

Ive heard about using kitty litter to remove oil.  and as for that ebonite hook again product, i don't really know how it works.  but i do like their theory on ball death.  it actually makes sence .

used it for years

seems to work

put tape over holes before using

stuff will sneak into finger grip/holes

Dont swing it-if you cant bring it

When in doubt-swing it out

Exactly what I did 1fife.
Did you have a really high polished look to the ball after you took it out of the Oil Dry and then cleaned it?
I use Reaction Plus by Track and a little orange oil to remove the final bit of dust off the Reaction Plus.
I started to use this combination only just after using the Oil dry so Im not sure which has given me the fantastic finish on my ball.
All I know is that it looks fantastic and is really tacky and give me a great reaction on the lanes.
Mind you it does help that Im having some coaching as to the reaction on the lane.
