Secret Sauce Polish?
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:30:41 AM »
I have the secret sauce polish and I love it! But it seems to wear off very easily. I polished one of my balls 2 weeks ago and I can already see that most of the shine has gone away. My main question is am I using the right cleaner? I clean all of my balls after I am done bowling each set. Right now I am using storm reacta clean on the balls with the secret sauce. Is there some other type of cleaner that I should use instead of this? Is the reacta clean what is ripping the polish off? Or does this polish just come off easily?

I would guess its the cleaner. It is like waxing your car then turning around and washing your car every time after you drive it. It will cause it to lose its luster faster.

Most bowling polishes are very similar to car waxes/polish. I would put a good clean on the ball then apply your polish and leave it alone. Wipe it off with a towel while bowling and it should last a lot longer before needing another shine.

But polish is not like a wax. It is not a coating, but an effect on the surface. I doubt if it was the cleaner. Otherwise, many other people would complain. I've used some of the strongest bowling-specific cleaners, Clean and Dull and Lanemasters cleaner. Neither of them dull the ball EXCEPT when the shine is caused by oil. Storm's Reacta clean is not a strong cleaner at all.

I really have little idea of why Secret Sauce's shine is coming off so soon, except that maybe that the lane surface Justin is bowling on is very rough.

Justin, maybe you're better directing this question at the developer of SS, Beans himself.

I doubt it's the cleaner. I suspect that you're seeing enough friction on the lanes that it's just "burning" off the polish, which would be entirely normal.

Is the ball more dull on the track area than the rest of the ball? If so, then it's likely just friction from the lanes.
