Tried Something New
« on: September 15, 2008, 01:49:11 AM »
This week I was going to clean my Resurgence but was out of cleaner. So instead I took it out to the garage and wrapped it in a towel and let it warm up. After about an hour I microwaved a damp soapy towel for a minute and placed it directly onto the ball and let it sit for 10 minutes. When I pulled the towel off there was alot of oil left on the surface but also on the towel. I repeated this twice, with a fresh towel each time. After the third towel there was very little oil on either the ball or the towel. I let the ball come to room temp. then brought it into the house and put it in my bag.
 The Results:
Took the ball to League Saturday night and all I can say is "WOW". This ball hasn't hooked this much in months. I believe I will make this type of cleaning a monthly thing. This type of cleaning restored that tacky feeling to the surface, and removed more oil then my regular cleaning routine.
If anybody can give me a reason why this will harm the ball I would appreciate the comments.
I have only been bowling a little over a year and average 155, but Saturday I threw a 572 series and made my anchor bowler upset that I was almost keeping pace with him. He threw a 618 series, but was complaining about the oil pattern being off. He has a 218 average. I talked to the lane tech and he said they changed the setting to give crisper backends.

I used to bowl Candlepin, but I have found Tenpin, and will Candlepin no more.
