polish to 2000 Abralon
« on: September 24, 2006, 10:41:55 AM »
Once I get my 1/2 HP Vertex Spinner, I will be taking my radical inferno (factory polished) to 2000 Abralon. My question is that: would I start with a 4000 pad and work my way to 2000    or     would i use the 4000 to knock off the polish and sand up from 400??????????????????

Start with lower grits in order to get brunswicks factory polish off you will need at least 800 probably lower like 600 or 400 then work up incrementally to 2000

yeah, probably.
Start with 600 wet/dry sandpaper or green nylon pad, then 1000 grit Abralon, then 2000 grit Abralon - should work out just fine.

Never start with 4000 grit unless the ball is already at 4000 grit and you want to refresh it.

I HIGHLY agree. ALWAYS start with a low grit, but not too low. I would NOT go to sandpaper to knock off polish... No reason to use sandpaper unless you're looking to open up the pores for some significant reason (soaking, resurfacing, heavy cleaning). The most abrasive thing you should use to knock the initial coat of polish off is Scotch Brite. I reccomend using the Green Pad, then 500 abralon, then 1000, then 2000, then polish. Remember to cross hatch (all 4 sides of the ball).

Also, I recently took my Smokin up to 4000, then heavily polished it, and I LOVE IT! I was dissapointed with it initially, but now I can't put it down. I would think the Radical would have the same response. Good luck!
