Polished ball, bit too skiddy. How to...?
«

Touched up my C300 Momentum last night.
Clean and Dull, then applied light coat of polish by hand. Went to bowl last night and found the ball skidded a bit too long and about 3-5 board right of target.
How can I reduce length a tad? Use clean and dull again to remove some of the shine? Or go bowl on some fried lanes to burn off the polish? I don't want to adjust the cover stock with pads or scotch-brite.
Looking for some advice.
Thanks!

Just FYI, Clean and Dull is a bit of a misnomer. It won't actually dull the ball. It also, however, won't shine it up, hence the name.

When I get a ball that's a little overpolished and I don't want to take it all the way down to say, 4000 with an abralon pad, I just bowl with it until I get a track burnt into it. I think this actually gives me a little more consistent roll, and it's how I used to fix the surface on The One for a long time.
4000 + Ebonite factory finish polish + 10-15 games gave it a nice track and a smooth roll, but kept the finish that the polish gave it.

You can also try a little more surface underneath the polish.
