This has happen to me a few times with various balls. I usually use Tracks Magic or Brunswick High Gloss Polish (both grit-less polishes).

Anything from 800 grit and up starting finish, its seems as if its very easy to over polish a ball and make it loose it backend finish.

For instance take my old Agent. Start at 1000 and ad Magic Shine. If I tried to "burn-in" the polish, the ball would really mellow out and play up the boards....but if I just hit it with the polish for a couple seconds on each side, the ball would have a great backend reaction.

Anybody ever notice that to much polish will kill the backend reaction rather then enhance it ?

You see alot of posts one here where people recommend taking a ball to 4000 then adding polish for a greater backend reaction. IMO, thats way to high to add a polish to help out the reaction. Maybe if you just polished it for a sec on each side (all 4), but if you burn-in polish with a 4000 grit base, you just made a new spare ball...

Burning it in you are clogging up the pores, i use high gloss, columbia polish now and for me the columbia polish is working better. It come in 600,1200,1500 and 2000 i do not have the 2000 polish but the others work well compared to the hgih gloss stuff. If i use the track stuff or ebonite polish the ball goes 60 feet to no success lol

I tried polishing my special agent with storm xtra 3 (to 2500) and was disappointed (just way to long for me), so I used abralon 2000 and really found what I was looking for, excellent length with remarkable recovery. Just going a little further I drilled a Shift Monday, used in league and NEVER considered the Special Agent the whole night!!!!!!
