Yes, most can be used by hand, some are combinations of cleaners and polishers. A ball should be clean before you polish them.
Polishing by hand can take a long time and it will never be as good or as long lasting as when it is done by a spinner.
If you do a few by hand, thoroughly, then you will be shocked by how easy it is to do the same process with a spinner and by the fraction of time and effort it takes with a spinner vs. by hand. When I use the word, "Shocked", I am not kidding.
A spinner is basicaly the price of a new drilled ball; in many cases, it is less than $200 delivered to your home.
