Ball Spinner Help
« on: November 04, 2008, 09:04:29 PM »
I just got a ball spinner and a set of abralon pads. I printed out the picture with the six different sides of the bowling ball.

My question is, do you go by this picture when you are just resurfacing or do you use this when you want to make a surface adjustment too, such as 4000 to 1000?

Thanks for your help.

I do 4 sides for every step I take in surface treatment, both sanding and polish/compound as final treatment. I just make sure that I follow the same rotational lines and move the ball 90°/180° after each turn.

i think 6 sides is a bit overkill. i usually only do 4 sides and than just 2 sides for polished because if i do more then it takes way too ling to create a track.

4 SIDES 4 me
with modern balls imo you dont need to do 6 sides, unless your using your spinner to get away from your nagging wife.........

I use 6 side method when I resurface or had to do big 'chunk' type plug work. To just adjust the cover, 4 side method for me.

With abralon and scotch brites I also think 4 sides is sufficient.

When sanding I go in two directions (I refuse to call them sides) from the lowest grit I'm going to use up to the final grit, rotating the ball 90 degrees after each set of two directions.  For the final grit I go in six directions.  --  JohnP
