track magic clean 'n sheen
« on: October 10, 2009, 09:31:33 PM »
My 32 oz. bottle of clean 'n sheen is almost gone. Does anyone still make the product or the equivalent of it? Thanks in advance.

Ebonite has the Track products and is selling them under the Powerhouse label.

I think Brunswick Rough Buff is similar and would do in a pinch IMO.

No, I'm pretty sure that Powerhouse Magic Shine is just the same as Track's Magic Shine. It's a plain polish.

Ebonite did not choose to market Clean and Sheen. Leastwise it's not on their web site. You'll have to find some internet site that still has a leftover supply of Track's Clean and Seen. Otherwise, the closest you'll come to it is Ultimate's Quick Kut and Polish Quart. BowlersParadise.com carries it:
http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/cp/ultimate_bowling/ultimate_quick_kut_and_polish_quart.shtml

Both of these had the same purpose to allow pro shops to do a one-setp preparation of a plugged ball once the top of the plug was routed off. It smoothes out 320-800 grit sanding marks and put a light shine, about 1000 grit, over it.

In regard to the original Advanced Polishing Products (A.P.P.) there was.

The Reaction Products:
Reaction "Heavy Duty Cleaner" (is a Cleaner/Sheen Restorer 320 to 1000 Grit)
Reaction "Plus"
Reaction "Delayed Reaction"
Reaction "Clean''N Dull"

these were then sold under the Track/Trackmagic label as.

Track/Trackmagic "Clean ''N Sheen" (was Reaction "Heavy Duty Cleaner")
Track/Trackmagic "Reaction Plus"
Track/Trackmagic "Delayed Reaction"
Track/Trackmagic "Clean''N Dull"

Now these are sold under the Ebonite Powerhouse label as.

Powerhouse "Reaction Plus"
Powerhouse "Delayed Reaction"
Powerhouse "Clean''N Dull"

But no "Clean''N Sheen"

-----------------------------
Track had these products also

Track/Trackmagic "Clean''N Smooth" was "Designed to restore the 1500 smooth finish to particle or reactive resin balls"

Track/Trackmagic "Clean''N Tacky" which is NOT "Clean''N Dull"

(and charlie is right about Magic Shine)
Track/Trackmagic "Magic Shine" became Powerhouse "Magic Shine"

How would Valentino's Resurrection compare to Clean n Sheen or the Kwik Kuts you suggested? According to their website it come out to approximately 800 grit matte finish. I've had no experience with their products.

I'm not going to answer for charlest but I have used resurrection and clean n sheen many times. I prefer the resurrection. Not just because it's the only one of the two still on the market but IMO it does a better job.

I like the way, adjusting pressure, you can take the ball to almost any grit you please. I also found, for me, the resurrection does not leave the ball in as "shinny' condition after with as close to the same pressure as I can tell, anyway.

I have never used kwik kut so I can nor compare it to the other two. Hope that helped.

As far as I know, and have used both, they really do different things.

Now, Resurrection can take different surfaces to that 800 grit US level. I believe Kevin told me from roughly 400 grit US to P4000 grit Abralon will all be taken to 800 grit US by Resurrection, by hand or by spinner. Spinner will leave a light shine.

C&S is more aggressive and can leave a much stronger shine, if you start off at a higher grit level.  In that manner it is more like Rough Buff (No, I'm not suggesting using RB instead of C&S).

Ultimate's Quick Kut and Polish is meant to do exactly the same as C&S. It is as close as you will get. It is very close, closer  than anything else, in my opinion. and it's no more expensive than C&S was. Both last a long time.
