Question about Ebonite cleaner
« on: March 30, 2007, 07:56:20 AM »
Hi, Can someone please tell me if you can use this on a Brunswick Ultimate Inferno?  I got it at a Meijer department store here and all it says on it is: "Ebonite Fast Dry Bowling Ball Cleaner",  and "Removes oil, wax, dust and dirt.  Ideal cleaner for Urethane and Polyester balls".  I wanted to check with you on here before I use it because I want to make sure it won't mess my ball up or something.

Thank you in advance for the help.

What you get outside of a pro shop is UNKNOWN. Although it has an Ebonite label on it, you'd have to ask Ebonite what's actually in it. If it isn'tone of these:
Ebonite PH Energizer Cleaner - http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/cp/ebonite/ebonite_ph_energizer_cleaner_5_oz_.shtml
or
Ebonite PH Ball Cleaner Ebonite PH Ball Cleaner -
http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/cp/ebonite/ebonite_ph_ball_cleaner_5_oz_.shtml
I wouldn't use it.

If you want a bowling-ball specific cleaner, get it from a pro shop or a good internet dealer. Some people use household claaners AT THEIR OWN RISK.

Don't be penny-wise and pound foolish!

Ok thanks a lot for the help.  A friend of mine is the one that actually bought it and it's his ball.  He's just gonna take it back and get his money back.  I sent Ebonite an email but they haven't answered yet.  He's just gonna buy some at the pro shop instead.

Thanks again.

If you want some advice on keeping your ball clean, to make it simple, forget any of the Ebonite stuff, and get some Lanemasters ball cleaner, easily the best cleaner one can get with the exception of Tracks CLean & Dull/Tacky which is a deep cleaner, which in turn is more advanced and different, but for a day to day cleaner you can't beat Lanemasters.

I have tried the Ebonite stuff and it dissapointed me big time, it smells good thats it.

I just got a reply from Ebonite.  Here's what they said just in case anyone's interested:

That product is better suited for rubber and plastic products.  It's ok for higher performance equipment but our Powerhouse Energizer Cleaner would be better.  Found at bowling pro shops.

I used both Tracks clean and dull and Lane Masters cleaner and for me Lane masters cleaner is far superior than Tracks clean and dull.

Medichal, we normally always agree on the cleaner subject, but I will say that Tracks Clean and DUll is just as good as Lanemasters cleaner, but it is a whole different cleaner so they can't be compared really, Clean & dull is a deep cleaner meant for every 20 games or so, Lanemasters is for after every set , or anytime you bowl, but using those 2 as a duo will keep your balls going for a long time before leosing some reaction. No disrespect meant.
