Rough Buff
« on: December 16, 2010, 05:51:56 AM »
Hey guys/gals, I have a C System 4.5 that I want to resurface back to the factory finish and I know that it is 500 grit Micro to Rough Buff. Two part question:

1. Does Rough Buff compare to Storm's Reacta Shine or Step 2? The reason I ask is that I already have those two and I would like to save some money if I could and just use one of them if they are the same. I haven't been able to find the grit of Rough Buff, but if its close to 1500 like the Storm stuff, then I'm good.

2. How exactly should I resurface the ball? The ball specs are 500 grit to Rough Buff, but Brunswick's resurfacing guide says they do all Rough Buff stuff from 220 grit to Rough Buff. I'm going to use Abralon instead of their Siaair pads, but from what I've read they are basically the same grit. How long should I do each side on the spinner with Rough Buff? I do Step 2 for about 15 seconds on each side for my storm stuff.

Any help would be appreciated!

Rough Buff is basically rubbing and finishing compound. To resurface the ball use a 180 grit abralon pad first then a 360 & 500 grit Siaair micropad. Then apply the Rough Buff.
