Not under normal circumstances, as far as I have seen with many balls.
Most times, the backend will increase as you increase the length, WHat you could try is using Track's Delayed Reaction instead of normal polish, but you have to be careful and use VERY light hand application. DR increases length AND reduces the backend by means of what is called a slip agent. So you'll get less backend if you apply a very light amount. If you apply too much DR, you have to sand it off and start over.
On the other hand, remember that sanding it to 4000 grit Abralon will also make it handle less oil. So there is that trde-off, too.
I think the safest way to change the ball is to re-drill it with a longer pin to PAP, but that will also make it go longer and flare less, also covering/handling slightly less oil.
I think the bestway to use the ball to get more length is move deeper or change hand posiiton or ball speed.
