reaction differences at different grits
« on: October 06, 2004, 05:01:37 PM »
What would the reaction differences be, between a ball prepared at say 800 grit, then polished with reacta shine wich shines to 1500 grit. Versus that same ball sanded to 400 grit then shined with the same reacta shine?

I'm sorry, I don't think I fully understand what you are asking. The reacta shine finishes at 1500 grit.

Ok sorry....my brain is dead after tonight's league which once again had a different shot than last week.....but anyways.....you can use the reacta shine from what I see to make it 1500 but if you are at 400 where exactly do you want the finish to be......800,1000,ect.....

Well that is basically my question (I think). If i use the polish for say 30 seconds on a 400 grit ball how different will it be than using the polish for 30 seconds on an 800 grit ball.

Really the only thing I can think of if it goes up double in 30-45 seconds then just double your grit.....I mean I use the Storm Compound system in my pro-shop and it tells me how much it goes up to......but it also gives me a starting point.....guess really it would be a trial and error system since all balls are different......but can't really tell......so all I can say is try it and see and write down or remember your results cause really and truly those types of polishes are kinda weak sometimes but really haven't used this product at all.....

From my experience, ball sanded to 400 grit then polished will be earlier than a ball started with 800 grit..
I usually prefer to sand it down to 320-400 grit then polish if I do not want to sacrifice much from midlane while looking for a touch more at backends.. Vice versa when I need simply more length..

Hope this helps,
Burak
