Where to buy Scotch Brite pads
« on: March 07, 2004, 11:58:21 PM »
Hello,

Where can I find Scotch Brite Pads locally? I don't want to order them online, I shouldn't have to since we have so many stores in the area someone must carry them. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Local stores include: (Off the top of my head)
Lowes
Home Depot
Menards
Advance Auto Parts
NAPA
Auto Zone
Target
Kmart
Wal-Mart
Checkers Auto Parts
Carquest

I usually pic it up at the auto part store near me...but most of the stores you listed should carry it.  I also picked some up at home depot when I was doing some home improvements over the summer.

Does any one place have a better selection than another?

abnormal: I haven't found the magic store that carries all the pads. Even if a chain store in one location has everything, that same store elsewhere won't.

So you have two choices: (1) You can drive around wasting gas hoping to find everything in one place -- been there done that, or (2) order online at the following link:

The above site is reputable, and they deliver fast. Good luck.

Steven -- Yes, the Wild Octopus site is a great supplier for Scotchbrite pads.  They are 6" x 9" and are available in maroon (400 grit), green (600 grit), gray (800 grit), and white (1000 grit).  The price is very reasonable, but if you are ordering a small quantity be sure you watch the shipping cost.  It can run the total cost per pad up pretty high.  --  JohnP

Steven....Yep, Wild Octopus is perfect. The grits they carry are all the grits most bowlers will ever need.

JohnP/Brickguy: Good points made. Offset the cost of shipping by buying bulk. You may not initially need alot, but the pads don't spoil, and friends always want to buy anything excess anyway.

And the four pads outlined in detail by JohnP are all you really need. While I use them all, I find the 800 grit grey the most useful for ongoing routine maintenance, and ironically, the 800 grey is the hardest to find in stores.
