Best surface/Polish combination for strong backend snap?
« on: December 21, 2011, 11:12:58 AM »
Hey guys need a bit of your advice.  My Motiv QZ2 (pin up) doesn't have the back end pop I'd really like to have from it.  What would be the best surface prep to get more snap on the back end.  Thanks in advance.

Depends on which QZ2 you have: Quadfire, which is 4000 grit + polish or the Backdraft (solid/pearl) which is 2000 grit + polish.

The Quad fire, you'd probably have to re-drill. (You could try adding more polish.)
The Backdraft you could take to 4000 grit (by sanding to 2000 grit to remove the polish and re-base the cover, then sanding with a P4000 grit pad) and re-polish to make it flippier.

It's the Quadfire, and thank you sir.  I've messed with the surface a bit but putting it back at 4k and polish hopefully will work.  Thanks again.

charlest always has some good ideas, but I really believe it depends on your conditions, lane surface, ball speed, rev rate and other factors. My best advice is to get someone who understands ball motion and have them watch you roll the ball.
