Title: Refresh my memory Please! Doc's Magic Elixir and Bean's Secret Sauce
Post by: TheGom on March 05, 2012, 08:46:28 PM
Found these two in my supply bag and wanted to be refreshed on these two product. I must have bought these back in 2003-2004 range.
Thanks

Doc's Magic Bowling Ball Elixir inhibits the absorption of oil into the cover. I still use the Elixir on my non-polished bowling balls.
IIRC, Bean's Secret Sauce is a polish.

Rsalas is correct about the Elixir and Sauce.
Secret Sauce is a ball polish and if I remember correctly, you only need to use a few drops at a time.

I don't rightly know. My decision point for whether to use the Elixir had to do with the surface preparation rather than the coverstock itself; that is, I'd use it on a scuffed pearl, but not on a polished solid. I found the performance to be similar across coverstock types.

As far as I know (I have used it), the coverstock composition doesn't matter. It reduces oil absorption and adds a slight bit of length to a ball. So if you had a 2000 grit surface, you might want to change it to 1500 grit before applying Elixer/Elixir. It lasts about 25 games.
