Refreshing polished or compound surfaces
« on: January 12, 2019, 01:20:10 PM »
Just started using polished and compound surface balls again. How often do you refresh the surface ? Do you wait for a change in reaction or set schedule ?

The usual recommendation is every 10 to 12 games.   For me it varies quite a bit by ball and how bored I am.  Sometimes a ball gets better with some lane shine so bit slower to put last surface back on it.
Here today.  Gone tomorrow.

9-12 games is the norm for refreshing the covers, as even in a 3 game set, the cover CHANGES rather quickly. As mentioned, lane shine develops as the ball is thrown (it can be beneficial in some situations).

The more you keep up with the refreshing of the cover, the more CONSISTENT the reaction you will maintain on your ball performance.

I don't refresh a polished cover for 40-50 games depending on how I like it.
A non -polished cover can be every week (my Web tour gets fresh 1000 before each set)
Any dull ball gets lane shined after 1 league session easily. Needs a good cleaning and surface touch up every 10 games or so.
If you have your own spinner, you will tend to touch the covers up a bit more frequently, at least I have
