Resurrection and Snake Oil
« on: July 23, 2008, 12:36:41 PM »
I ordered a trial package of the Valentino products.  Their response was amazing, I placed the order last Thursday and had it in my mailbox this Monday.  I have a Dynothane Energy that I've just never been satisfied with.  No problem getting it to the pocket, but it wouldn't carry as well as I want.  It was originally drilled Rico, but I plugged it and redrilled it 5 X 5 pin up.  It still wouldn't carry (2000 Abralon, no polish).  It didn't have many games on it, so I sanded it with 1000 grit Abralon (four directions) and then hit it with Resurrection per the instructions.  The result was a very good looking and feeling matte finish.  I wanted to use it this afternoon, Wednesday, on lanes that had not been oiled since yesterday afternoon, so I applied the Snake Oil per instructions.  Great shine resulted, and I could feel the ball pull less and less on my rag as I shined it up.  Used it today and had the best reaction I've ever seen from that ball.  I could still hit the pocket, but the carry was dramatically better than ever before.  I wish I had taken the time to throw it before using the Snake Oil, but knew I'd need the extra length today.  When we get to the fall season I'll probably take the polish off and reapply Resurrection - I think that will give a great reaction on oil.  I am well pleaased with the products, and plan to try them on a customer's ball next week.  --  JohnP

John, I am sure that you have seen in my posts about these products that the results were outstanding. I have an AMF Heist with over 200 games on it and it became not as good as NIB. I ordered the Resurrection and Snake Oil, applied both of them on my Heist with a terry cloth towel per instructions and this returned my Heist back to it's NIB performance.

Big fan of the Snake Oil and Resurrection (and the Frankentape!).  When I ordered some Frankentape the other week, I was surprised to find they sent me a sample bottle of both Snake Oil and Resurrection.  I took my Total NV at 1000 abralon and applied a moderately light coat of Snake Oil by hand to give me a very light shine, something similar to the lane shine you get from bowling for a dozen games.  I shot 760 and 758 in back-to-back weeks in my Tuesday league with this surface (and using Frankentape around my entire thumbhole)  I had 234-258-268=760 one week and 277-258-223=758 the next.  After the first night, I ordered 4oz bottles of both the Snake Oil and Resurrection and another pack of Frankentape, and I just received it yesterday.  I also used Resurrection and a heavy application of polish on my Special Agent on a ball spinner and that thing looks like a marble.  I only got to throw that ball so far on a pattern totally inappropriate for it (too much oil, too long of a pattern), and it STILL made a strong move on the backend.  I think it might get some use, however, in the Kentucky Open this weekend.

I tried the sample pack of Resurrection and Snake Oil and liked them so much, that I bought a 4 oz bottle of each.  I took my Roto Grip Venus down to 600 grit with a fresh green Scotchbrite pad, then applied the Resurrection on my spinner.  I then applied the Snake Oil over the Resurrection finish.  Took it to practice on Sunday morning.  First few shots I didn't see much backend, but I may have over-applied the polish.  After a few shots, the Venus became a backend monster again!  Mine is drilled pin next to ring with the CG close to grip center, and this ball gets great length and a very flippy backend reaction.  I'm very happy with both products and I may apply both to my AMF Heist like Brickguy did.  Thanks Valentino, for making a great product!

I too have had great results with these products.  I only have used the Snake Oil after applying the Resurrection.  As anyone just given your equipment a good cleaning and gone just with Snake Oil.. If so, what were the results.

Will you get good results if you apply the Resurrection and Snake Oil entirely by hand? I don't have a spinner.

I know Resurrection will work well by hand but polish is somewhat tough no matter what by hand.

The one thing i'd like to point out as I haven't seen it mentioned is that when you use Resurrection on a ball spinner it will give you a little bit of a sheen finish when done with mild pressure and if you use a lot of pressure and water you can actually get a mild shine out of the ball. I have found though that ball is still much much stronger than polish, tends to be around a 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper finish or fresh light gray scotchbrite finish.

As I mentioned, I applied Snake Oil by hand on one ball to get a lighter polish finish.  It gives me a little bit extra pop on the back without making the ball stupidly long and stupidly skid-snap.  You can't get as good of a high gloss shine doing it by hand.

I applied the Resurrection with my spinner to my Cell drilled pin next to ring, 4" from PAP with the MB 3-1/2" from PAP.  I'll use it tonight on the Scorpion pattern in my PBA Experience league (wood surface with Guardian overlay to the arrows) and post results tomorrow.

glad to hear all your success stories! I can't wait for you to try our cleaner which is coming out pretty soon. IT'S AMAZING!

Yes, Snake Oil works great by hand, it just takes longer then by spinner.

Hi, Brick -- Yes, I've read your (and other's) posts about Resurrection and Snake Oil, that's the main reason I decided to try them!!  I was just so pleased with the results that I had to share with my BR friends.  What really surprised me about the Snake Oil was the way I could feel the drag on the application towel get less and less as I applied it.  I've never felt that with another polish, no matter what surface it was put over.  I'm not completely sure if that was a characteristic of the SO or of the Resurrection I was applying it over.  --  JohnP

I used my Cell drilled pin next to ring, 4" from PAP with the MB at 3-1/2" from PAP and finished with Resurrection on the Scorpion last night.  Center has wooden lanes with Guardian overlay to the arrows.  I had a good look playing straight up 10 for the first 2 games.  In the 2 games with the Cell, I shot 185 and 222.  Very nice reaction and I'm very pleased with the Resurrection.
