Several spinner companies have instructions on how to sand a ball. Usually their first step its to put the label up. What do they consider the label ? Storm has their name, their insignia, and the ball name on their balls. Radical has company name and ball name, DV8 has the ball name and their saying on the ball. I had one pso tell me to start with the grip on the side and then do the usual rotations. I used to start with my grip up. How do you do it and is there a correct first step ?

In the past The label was typically considered around the CG.

But It really doesn't matter what label or logo you use or if you start with the grip on top first (Which is what most do) or the side.Just as long as you remember where you started and flip the ball properly there after.

Yeah don't worry about labels use the finger holes and their orientation.  Finger holes up, finger holes down.  2 Finger holes up and then thumb hole up.  If I am doing a really deep resurface I will use all six sides on initial step (finger holes to the side flipped both ways).

HackJandy, thanks. That's the way I've been doing 4 sided. Milorafferty, according to one page I've seen (Jayhawk?) the way you sand it affects the roll on the ball. I haven't experimented to find out if it's true.

The direction of your sanding lines in relation to the bow tie does have an effect on the ball roll. But that only really applies to the final surface. The underlying pattern should be cross hatch.
