when starting to sand the ball starting with 320 to remove the track area. I do all six sides. But now I start to step up to 400 then to 600 and ect. do you still do all 6 sides on each step?

Yes. Sanding all 6 sides is needed to keep everything even and to remove the sanding lines from the previous grit.
