I was just curious if I can change the surface on a particle bowling ball. I know when particles first came out there were rumors that you couldnt sand particle balls because it would ruin them. I dont know if these rumors were face or not or just something that was floating around the house that I bowl at. But was considering bringing the ball back to the OOB finish after I tried using polish on it and wanted to make sure this was ok to do before I tried it.

It depends on which company's ball. Storm uses a rubber particle, which is means you should use a "soft back" abrasive such as abralon or scotch brite. If you use sand paper on these it tends to "cut" the particles and smooth the surface out too much. Ever noticed how some of the past Storm particle balls had a "fuzzy" feel to them? We had many a rag turn black on the spinner from these.  

Most other companies use "hard" particles such as glass, ceramic, mica, etc. and you can use virtually any abrasive on them. I hope this helps.
