Sanding my Flash Flood

My Flash Flood is the first "performance ball" that I have ever bought. I think it's great, but I haven't tried anything else so I don't have anything to compare it to except for my plastic Target Zone. I bought this ball used. When I got it, it was a little duller than it is now. I have cleaned it a few times but it still seems a little shiny to me. Also seems to have lost a little of it's action on the backend. Out of the box, it has a 800 grit matt finish. I went to the Home Depot last night to get some Scotch Brite pads. They didn't have any. What they had was a pad made by Norton that is suppose to be just like 000 steel wool. Will this give me the finish I want or is it too coarse?

Newbie640 -- I'm not familiar with the grit equivalent of the Norton pad.  If you go to a auto parts store that carries painting supplies, they should have a selection of ScotchBrite pads.  For information on the grit equivalency of the different colors, see the "Unofficial FAQ" thread in the Miscellaneous Forum.  --  JohnP

After a little research on the net, I find that 000 steel wool is about the same as 500 grit. 0000 is equal to 800 grit. I think I'll try and find the Scotch brite pads. I think 500 grit might be too much.
