Soaking a ball
« on: January 06, 2008, 07:56:19 AM »
I have a bowling ball soaking in hot water in a bucket. How long can you keep it for?
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

usually only takes about 10min or so and it usually gets all its going to get out of the ball. I usually do that twice till i see no oil or anything coming out. I use soap on the first one though.

Somewhere around the 15 - 20 minutes mark, the water will cool enough such that it makes no sense to leave the ball in it any longer. (You are puuting a kitchen liquid degreasing soap inthe water also aren't you?) Take it out, wipe it off and run another load of hot water, as hot as your hand can stand without burning yourself. DO it at least 2 times, maybe 3 times.

I usually run a little water into the bucket before I empty it to skim any oil off the top of the water. I make sure I have at least 24 hours before I plan to use the ball so any absorbed water will evaporate out of the ball. Like others, I soak it for twenty minutes twice, first with dishsoap then with plain hot water.
