No. The ScotchBrite white pad is in the neighborhood of 1200 - 1500 grit but the problem is the abrasive used in its manufacture is too mild to affect the hardness of a bowling ball. I pressed hard enough to almost stop a ball spinner without affecting the surface of a ball with a white pad. The 4000 grit Abralon pad has silicon carbide as the abrasive. It will definitely affect the surface of a bowling ball.
You can use the white pad to help clean a ball with ball cleaner, but even that's a waste, in my opinion. Might as well use a cloth.
