From what I have seen, there's no telling how long they last.

Some have the abrasive precipitate out very fast; some are almost gel-like and you never have to stir them up.  The ones that do precipitate out can almost always be remixed; I often use a very long screwdriver to get into the almost solid mass at the bottom.Some can easily be shaken up, while others are a royal pain in the butt and have to be shaken an annoyingly long time to get the abrasive back into solution.

Some that seem to keep the abrasive in solution well and rarely need to be shaken are Storm Xtra Shine, Powerhouse Factory Finish, Lane Masters Factory Finish polish & Motiv Power Gel Polish.

my storm step 2 and 3 have lasted a long time.  bought my current bottles in 2008 or 2009 and they seem fine.  a large jug of clean-n-dull changed colors on me.  more a grey than the green it was when purchased.  haven't actually used that bottle since I noticed the color change.

There aren't any chemicals inside our polishes that really "go bad" But I'd recommend you use all the polish within 3 years. The products will split after sitting on the shelf for a while so we recommend you shake the product before use.

That right there happened to my CnD, CnT, and the matte finish one - forget the name.

I'd say it wasn't used in far too long, to have bought that large a bottle.

I'd guess some gas escaped or the compound reacted with the air inside and reduced the pressure inside enough for the outside pressure to crush the bottle. Just open and close them once a year, once every 6 months. It happens with lots of household items, depending on the speed with which the inside compounds change as they react with the air inside the bottle.

I found a new bottle of snake oil from 2009 in the storage unit last week and used it this week. It works like a charm...

Mine has the abrasive precipitate out fairly quickly; it has to be shaken up quite a bit to return it to the polish mixture.
