Has anyone touched their Disturbed's surface yet? I know the box 2000 glazes up quite a bit and am familiar with the protocols to do it. I'm just afraid Ill never get it right.

Anyone actually do it yet without noticing any difference?

That's the reason I put MY version of the factory surface BEFORE I even throw a new ball.
I know I can duplicate it.Some thing to consider in the future.

Also... if you've actually used the ball at all, it's surface isn't OOB anymore anyhow.

I hand scuffed it with a new 2000 pad and it did the trick. Ill confirm next time I make the drive to my pro shop as he has a surface scanner.

I'm also picking up some Storm Reacta Skuff

The surface scanner, if what I get from references to it in BJI's ball reviews, will read much finer than that applied by the pads used. Even Joey mentioned that when he first started giving the numbers for new balls with the stock surface.

While the 2000  grit outer surface needs to be refreshed regularly, I believe the base grit is either 360 or 500. Keep that in mind at the 40-50 game mark, when the whole surface needs to be reset.

Its 360/2000. And keep in mind that if the test ball Joe gets at BJ was the 20th ball in line with a particular pad it naturally would read finer as the pads wear out with use.

I've gotten several balls which are supposed to have been 4000 grit matte,  but they looked polished out of the box. Nothing  wears faster than a 4000 grit pad!

It's also why I tend to do what EFFEN 10 does, but I try the stock surface first.
