This may be a dumb question, but it just happens to be a scenario that I haven't ran into since I started running the pro shop at my local center.  The owner came to me yesterday about a couple of balls that got gouged up in the return.  Both are plastic, and the gouges are not that deep so I know they'll sand out, but one of them is a viz-a-ball, and I've never sanded one before.  Is there any different approach to sanding these, or can I just go about it like any other ball?

Cant sand Viz-a Balls. They have a kind of drawn on cover. I think its done by computer and that will come.

If you resurace it you will end up with a white pool ball. My friend did his vortex one and he was not happy.

I've done it on three balls. It will take the "paint" off but if you scrape the plug material off, ( provided you can use plug) and then use a small file to get within a grease pen. lead depth, use 1000 grit pad and it works out nice.

Does it take a while...YOU BET ! But the look on the boys and then the 4 yr old girls faces were better than the time spent.  Can you make any money off the job ? Shoot no, took me 2 days on one and 4 days on the other.

IF, again IF it's a dark ball like the Hulk figure, you will make it a nice white, I tried dark balls and did not have any luck. I've done a Breast Cancer, Princess and an eye ball, ball those worked, but again, VERY timely !

The newer ones can be lightly resurfaced, but I think anything more aggressive than 800 grit is asking for trouble.

The instructions that come with most Viz A Balls says DO NOT start under 400 grit, DO NOT use the diamond wheel on them. Go under 5 min if you're using the Haus machine or it will cause the design to fade.

I've done a few, using a spinner only, started with 500 grit and worked up to 4000 not much pressure or it will take the design off.
