Ball Spinner Suggestions (looking to buy)
« on: November 14, 2007, 03:20:45 AM »
Hey guys..

I am looking to buy a ball spinner for the first time and I am just looking for some feedback on what an affordable, good quality, durable piece would be.

I have looked at Vertex, Donkee and Innovative; and the Innovative is a little out of my price range.  I was considering the 1/2 hp by Vertex.  Donkee seems like a nice piece too but I would just like to hear some feedback from personal experiences, and some info from those of you who have more experience with them.

Also, is having adjustable speed all that important?  I don't see where the innovative 2 speed piece is worth the extra $200-300.

My Proshop had a homemade spinner (that I used to use for free) out of a washing machine motor, a deep plastic sink tub, and had it setup with a drain, seal under spinner cup, and faucet with a snake attachment which made it real easy to wetsand, as well as do everything else.  I sent an email to Vertex about getting the material (tub, foot pedal, spinner, etc) and making a similar homemade version to where I could run the waterhose through the garage to the faucet and use a piece or two of drain pipe to drain into a 5 gal. bucket at the side of the tub, but didnt get a response.

Either way, I don't really need all that jazz, but I was considering doing it to make resurfacing a ball much easier.  I think I will pass on that for now and just settle for a spinner, a flower pot from Walmart to use as a splash guard, and get a $2.00 Spray bottle.

However, after pricing for material to make a homemade tub spinner it equalled to around $430 (with a starter kit of sanding pads, and a few polishes and cleaners), where if you buy the professional job through innovative its well over $1,000 with no additional equipment .

I've been very happy with my Vertex 1/2 hp spinner.  I picked it up in May and I use it every weekend to clean my equipment and get ready for another week of bowling!

I bought a clear storage tub from Wal-Mart that I use to store my spinner and supplies and it doubles as a splash guard too.

For personal use the Vertex 1/2HP is an excellent spinner.  I love mine.  I got a plastic Rubbermaid tub from Walmart to keep it in and to contain the splatter.  while the Innovative spinner may be a real top-of-the-line piece, the best bang for your buck is the Vertex.

Vertex is the best. Never gets hot and turns off like other spinners. Plus the price you can't beat.

I've been very happy with my 1/2 hp Vertex spinner I got around Xmas time last year, it's just about paid for itself already.  Like many of the others, I got a Rubbermaid tub that I put it in for a splash guard.

Get the Vertex and be a happy camper.  Their customer service is also second-to-none.

I strongly recommend the Vertex 1/2 hp. Their quality is excellent, their customer service is incredible, they think so highly they warranty it for Pro shop service.

I had a Donkee but it vibrated the whole bench I had bolted it to and I could not ever use it on high speed. I sold it for $75, I was so anxious to get rid of it.

I bought the cheapest thing I could find 5 years ago and have never had any trouble at all. No wobble, noise, nothing. Unless they've cheapened them in the last few years, buy the cheapest one you can get. They all spin the ball. I think mine is an Innovative. Don't even remember.

Innovative is not cheap by any means. One of the higher dollar spinners out there. Go with the 1/2 HP Vertex as almost everyone suggest. I've had one for 4 years now and have not had a single problem.
