Surface question?
« on: July 07, 2005, 04:01:18 AM »
According to Roto-grip's website the oob finish on the
Super Sonic is 1500 polished. To return it to box finish
you would use Xtra Shine, but according to Storm's website,
Xtra shine finishes a ball to 3500 grit. My question is,
if I do not use Storm products on my equipment, how do I
maintain the box finish if I like it? Would I use sandpaper
of the appropriate grit then use a non grit polish or am 'stuck'
using Storm product to achieve the desired results?

The site said , for 1000 use Step 2. If you read the bottle, step 2 says up to 1500. Just me, but I have found, or think anyway, that the 'top grit' or max shine, a polish says it does, is with a lot of pressure and a spinner. I have had great luck restoring OOB by not applying as much pressure and hitting each side for 20-30 seconds. I do use the 6 step method, which I'm sure most don't.

I'd rather have a bit to much shine, easier to take it down a step with SB, than to start over and work your way up...JMO

Azguy, I think you were looking at the wrong ball.

I guess what I am really asking is, what surface is the ball at
1500 or 3500?
