Louie,
SOunds like an expensive version of the Visionary Green Gargoyle.
I'd use a grey (800-1000) nylon pad and lightly scuff up a part of the ball. Test it and see how it rolls/skids. If it still skids too far, scuff it up a LITTLE more. Do this sequence in small increments, so you don't go too far.
(This process is easier to do with a nylon pad than with sandpaper.)
Do it at the lanes (hopefully with an oil pattern similar to your league or tournament oil pattern, on which it is skidding too far.) so you can test it a few frames at a time.
Don't be impatient.
(Wish I could save this description, as I have typed it 4 or 5 times now, when this same scenario has happened to other people. Hope I didn't leave anything out this time.)
Let me know if you choose to try this and how it goes, Louie.
FYI:
If you can't get a grey pad, try a green one, but be careful because it is rougher, 600 grit. Just be gentle and use it lightly. Remember you can always scuff it more; you can't scuff it less or un-scuff it. You have to re-polish it and start all over.
