hand cleaner to clean a bowling ball?  I'm referring to the hand cleaner mechanics use to rid themselves of grease.  I've touched some cleaners and find they strongly resemble the hand cleaner though not quite as gritty (sp).

I know the idea sounds "off the wall" but heck thought I'd just ask

I used some GoJo on a scratched beat up junker I have, just to see. It's hard to say, there was a huge 'slime/film' on it and I wiped it off with alcohol wipes after. Because this junker was in bad shape, it didn't seem to do a lot, but again, this is a crap ball...I never tried it on a good ball, it just didn't seem to do that much.

of course you would use water while using the product i.e. spray ball with water as you're using hand cleaner on it in the spinner.  I would suppose the finer grit cleaners would work well.  Might have to try it on an old Vendetta.  What's the worse that can happen?  Resurface?  if so, that's fine.  If it's too coarse, I'll hit it with a 1500 abralon.

I'll keep you posted to my findings.

I tried Gojo on a ball once.  It is gritty.  Not sure how well it cleaned since the ball wasnt too dirty, but it definitely took the shine off.  Same effect as say Ebonite Quick Sand.  It left a film too.

I used some the other week - took the wax from the Lustre King off really well.  Used it with green scotch-brite, so it may have been the effect of using both.  Don't know how well it cleans - ball was already clean.  Didn't notice any film, but I did rinse it really well after I was done.

I don't know, I've used dish soap and water on a ball to soak oil out, and I believe I heard that Gordon Vadakan suggests putting balls through the dishwasher.

He is the guy at Wichita state right? Hes a nice guy.

My dad WHEN he cleans his bowling balls normally uses hand soap and water, but I think the dishwasher gets to hot for the ball.
