Neo-Tac's Hook-It vs. Track's Clean-n-Dull
« on: April 19, 2005, 11:03:34 AM »
Has anyone tried both of these products, are they similar, does anyone feel one is better than the other?  I personally use Neo-Tac's Hook-It and was just wondering if anyone has tried both and have found them similar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pat: I've been a Neo-Tac guy for a few years. I use the full compliment of Renew-It, Control-It, Liquid Sandpaper, Khameleon Ball Restorer, and if course, Hook-It.

I just started using Clean N' Dull (I was curious), and in many respects it compares similar to Hook-It. They both clean extremely well. If I had to pick which one cleans 'better', I'd probably give a slight nod to Hook-It. When you apply Hook-It, you can almost feel the dirt/grim/oil being sucked from the cover as you rub it in. The Clean N' Dull is a gel, and you have to take it on faith that the chemical composition is dissolving the bad stuff on your behalf. I believe it is.

Where I give Clean N' Dull the nod is the tacky feel if leaves behind. Hook-It leaves some stick reside you might call 'tack', but not the same quality as that left by Clean N' Dull. This might just be personal preference, but I just like the way Clean N' Dull finishes off a ball.

Personally, for the most extensive of cleaning, I believe that Neo-Tac's Khameleon Particle Sand High Tech Ball Restorer does a better job than anything at pure cleaning by hand. When I've applied Khameleon after a treatment with Clean N' Dull, I've always been able to dig a little more out. And If I've applied it to a polished ball and a little of the shine has been disturbed, a light application of Renew-It does the trick in restoring any lost gloss. I believe this is the best 1-2 combination going. But Khameleon does contain abrasives, which turns some people off.

I'd suggest investing in a small bottle and giving Clean N' Dull a try. The product is versatile across all types of balls (don't let the name fool you), so it will continue to have a place in my cleaning regime. You'll have to decide if it can actually replace Hook-It based on your own experience.

Steven,

Thank You, I use Khameleon and Re-New It also and I am very fond of those products as well. I will give a small bottle of Clean-n-Dull a try.

Thanks again........

I've used both products, and I have to say that I like Track's Clean N' Dull over Hook It.  I find that Clean N' Dull is cleans the ball much better, and it give the coverstock a much better tackier cover which last longer than Hook It.

The Clean & Dull is also much safer to use.

I've used Hook-It for several years now, and the dirt and grime just seems to melt off of the ball.  However, I've also seen others have good success with Clean-N-Dull too.  I don't think that you would go wrong with either of the two.

I have used both too.For a pearlized ball and tackiness though, clean and polish gives the best tacky feeling. If you want to clean the ball cheaply use Simple green and water.Mix it 50-50 I use 75-25 it works great.Get a microfiber towel that also will help too.

I have use both of these myself and I really like the Clean N Dull product.

I have sold a lot of the Clean N Dull in the pro shop.  One big selling factor is that you can remove permanent marker with this product.  If it takes that off, it can surely handle a little dirt and oil.

I buy Clean N' Dull by the quart and use it religously.  When friends ask me if it really works, I tell them to first clean their ball, then give it to me.  I use a clean white towel, spread the gel on the ball, wait a minute, then totally wipe the ball down with the white towel.  Showing them the dirt and grit on the towel is worth a thousand words!

In my experiences, it does leave a very thin residue behind that I can wipe off with windex. I will vouch for the tacky feeling it leaves behind.

I agree with the residue... I seem to get that on my D/T Soaker covered balls. I follow up with a clean microfiber shop towel from Lowe's... the 3 for $5 towels look/feel identical to my $12 Ebonite towel... except for the logo tag! Hmmmmmm........

I love clean-N-dull especially on brunswick products, however, Hook-it scares me. The stuff makes the ball really tacky and the ball ends up hooking at 20 ft. and burning up before it hits 30ft. I don't know. That stuff is just weird.
