Ball Spinner-Vertex Vs. Innovative
« on: December 06, 2004, 10:55:37 PM »
This Christmas I'm going to treat myself to a spinner. This will be my first attempts at using one. Was wondering if the extra $100. for the innovative is really worth it? Looks like you could get the vertex but by the time you added the foot pedal and carry case it would cost as much as the innovative. Are the extras worth it? Would appreciate reading any comments or experiences anyone has had with this. Is one better than the other etc?

                                  Thanks,

I have had the vertex and its GREAT spinner for the money, very quiet with no vibration at all. I can't comment on the other spinner but if its $100 more, I would got with the vertex and to asnwer your other question, NO the accessories are not worth the extra $$$ unless you own a pro shop and are going to be using the spinner everyday..

OK, didn't want to slam a company but I had a Vertex 1/2 HP spinner like I stated in the above post and I sold it and picked up a like new donkee 1/2 2 speed spinner form user clintdaley and this thing is a piece of junk!! Its loud, vibrates very badly and is not nearly as well built as the Vertex. Like I stated earlier, I have no idea about the Innovative spinner, but between the Donkee and Vertex, BUY the VERTEX.. I wish I had mine back!!

The innovative is built stronger and will stand some abuse.
Compare the construction and materials and see if the difference in price is worth it or not. The 2 runs pretty close to the same RPM.
Forget the accessories.
For splash guard, get a plastic flower pot.

I've never had a problem with the donkee.  Others have and others haven't.  To each his own.

This is the reason a majority of the people recommend Vertex. It's possible that someone, somewhere has had a vibration problem with the Vertex, I don't know, but I have yet to see my first post on this site stating that someone had a vibration problem with the Vertex where as on the Donkey, a few report no vibration but more people than not report vibration problems. Most people have to bolt the Donkey to a table top, where as with the Vertex, you can set it unbolted on any table top and it won't vibrate. I have never had nor used the Donkey, but I have read the many negative reports about it on this site.

Does the vertex spin as fast as the Donkee??  Just curious, b/c we are talking about a bowling ball here.  Most of them have a inbalance, so if you spin anything with an inbalance fast enough, of course you get vibration.

The Vertex is pretty slow.

Killer, the Vertex is plenty fast to do the job....The bottom line is that the Donkey badly vibrates and will jump off the table top or where ever it is being used, unless it is bolted down whereas the Vertex will remain on a table top with out being bolted down and without vibration and without jumping off the table top. All former Donkey owners that now use Vertex will tell you that and they will also tell you they prefer the Vertex. If you doubt this, ask them...

Just to comment on the speeds of spinners, the old
Jayhawk and Innovative spinners were also slow compared
to the faster ones today.  The way these blocks are in
balls today I think there would be less wear and tear
on the shaft with a spinner that wasn't shaking so bad.
The Pro Shop I deal with has two spinners, An Innovative
two speed and an old Jayhawk single speed, When he's busy
most guys are forced to use the old Jayhawk and it still
does the job just fine.

If your Donkee JUMPED OFF THE TABLE, then I can understand your love of the Vertex.

LMAO

Go back and re-read my post and you will find that I never said "my" Donkey jumped off the table. The following quote is what I said:...

I also said:....

I agree with the following statement from your last post which said:...

THE REAL BOTTOM LINE IS THAT ANY SPINNER IS BETTER THAN NO SPINNER, so go ahead and get one.

Hopefully this clears up what was and wasn't what I said.

Thanks to all who replied. You have definitely steered me away from the donkee. I'm leaning towards the Innovative just because of the higher speed to polish. My ball speed is not fast so when the lanes dry out I think a good polish job will really benefit me. Thanks again for sharing your experience with me, I learned something.

                                    Thanks,
