Using Doc's Elixir on Soaker Type Covers
« on: January 22, 2006, 02:03:28 AM »
What do you think good idea or bad?  Does Doc's Elixir interfere with the soaker's ability to do it's thing?

Personal experience with DT Soaker covers and did not use Doc's Elixir.   Both DT Thing and DT Thing Returns both seem to have as much pop as new.

I am going to pick up a new Ebonite The One on Monday and wondering if I should use Doc's Elixir on it or not.  Your opinions?

I have nothing against Doc's Elixir, but IMO, a ball designed to soak oil, needs to do just that. Maybe I'm wrong, but just seems to be negating the 'workings' of that ball.

BTW--this is NOT a knock on Doc's product.  I have used it on many other balls just wondering about honest opinions on soaker covers.

Thanks for your honest opinions!

Scott,

I'd just be sooooo inclined not to put it on these 2 types of coverstocks. Just got a High Energy - will leave it matte finish: somewhere between the stock 800 abd 2000 grit when it is drilled - will NOT apply Elixer to it.

I dont use it on either of those 2 balls and I have yet to see much change in them.
The Thing Returns is a little weaker on oil now but it does have over 500 games on it.
