Title: Urethane - oil extraction
Post by: qstick777 on July 20, 2005, 05:15:13 AM
Can oil be extracted from a pure urethane ball?  Thinking back to the original Hammers (black, blue, and red).  If so, what is the best way?

We used Ebonite Hook Again on a orig. Blue Hammer once and it breathed some life back into it.

I think that urethane balls are solid and do not have many pores.  Compared to a reactive resin ball, is urethane with pores, that was created by an additive. I would imagine that urethane balls will probably soak up very little oil, since they have few, if any pores.  Thus I would doubt that either of those systems would work, unless there is something more going on then I know about.

I once put an old solid urethane ball in my rejuvinator for several cycles, and no oil at all came out.  Not that it was too surprising.

sorry Bob but I have to disagree with you as far as the Original blue hammer is concerned. I never had a problem with maintainging the balls reaction. I quick hit on the spinner with scotch brite or 600 paper kept it consistant all the time. This ball was great for its time! and still could be?
