Below is a picture of the ball undrilled OOB...

Out of Box

I used a well-worn 4000 grit Abralon pad to apply "Resurrection" to resurface the ball after 50 games....

Snake Oil

Products are easy to apply
"Resurrection" pulled a lot of dirt and oil out of the cover.
The "Snake Oil", applies easily. (I normally use Beans Special Sauce).
I find that Beans Special Sauce gives a glossier shine, wit h less effort.

Resurrection and Snake Oil are both excellent products.

But again, they may smell good, but you should not consume our polishes or any polishes for that matter.

maybe thats the next step in bowling. polish that shines up your ball, give u a snappy backend reaction, and taste great on that slice of pizza or hamburger u just order from the snack bar.

The OOB grit is 4000 for both the Rival and the Momentum. Wouldn't using the Resurrection take both balls to 800 grit? Then applying the Snake Oil would make it go longer but the underlying grit would still be 800. Going form 4000 to 800 would make both balls pickup (read) the lane earlier correct?

I just don't what the balls to read to early and burn up.

Resurrection looks like an interesting product. For anyone who might know, how does it compare to Khameleon Particle Sand High Tech Ball Restorer or Neo-Tac Liquid Sandpaper?

Liquid sandpaper just "sands" the ball. In fact, I rarely use it because I have no idea what grit level it supposed to finish balls. Resurrection is more like a combination of 800 grit sanding plus a light amount of compounding. In this sense, it's a more like a light dose of Clean and Sheen because C&S puts a compound polish on the ball. Resurreciton puts more of a sheen over the 800 grit finish.

Never used the Khameleon product so I can't comment on it.

I know there is fear/concern by some about using Liquid Sandpaper. However, I've used the product by hand for years, and it's not near as 'cover invasive' as the name implies. Like anything else, much is predicated on the amount of pressure applied. I'll even use it on Pearl equipment, and then follow-up with a little Neo-Tac Renew-It to get the cover back to original appearance/reaction.

As far the Khameleon product, I find it almost indistinguishable from Liquid Sandpaper. I'm not quite sure why Neo-Tac markets two almost identical products.

Based on your description of Resurrection, I like the idea of 800 grit sanding plus a light amount of compounding. It sounds a little like the Liquid Sandpaper/Renew-It combo in one shot. It looks worth giving a try.

That could work very well I just never tried it. Since you did and say it works, I assume it is fine.

Could be almost any number of reasons. WOnder if using it on a spinner for a long time would make a difference?

Try it by hand first then try it with the spinner. The spinner seems to put more of a shine on it, to a small degree.

What is nice it that it goes a little longer than if you sanded the ball to 800 grit and left it dull, but doesn't seem to hook less, just in a different place. As I mentioned somewhere else, this seems to be the easiest I have ever got Lanemasters balls back to their stock "sheen" finish.

Thanks for fielding the questions Jeff, as for Neo-Tacs products, Resurrection is similar to the Khameleon particle sand, but as mentioned our product puts a sheen finish on the ball. I also believe the particle sand was 400 grit?. Our finish (800 sheen) is the stock finish for about 65% of medium to heavy oil particle and reactive balls.

I received my 4oz one/two punch

If i see dry enough outside tonight I will throw my lane 1 g-force evolution which was hit with ressurection then snake oil... the tackiest finish ive ever seen on a bowling ball.

So far I like the products but once i hit the lanes... that will be the true test.

the balls used are:

lane 1 carbide plus (resurrection) rico drill

lane 1 evolution (resurrection + snake oil)

im hoping to throw both but i might have to throw extra games to break the lanes down enough to need a polished ball

so far so good!

I used my Valentino Products on my recently oil extracted Storm Pyro. All applications were by hand of these products.

Resurrection went on fairly easily with a wet washcloth. I did both sides and the surface has this almost eerie shine to it. I got slightly scared.

Then I applied the Snake Oil. By hand, to get a decent shine, took me forever. The tackiness was phenomenal, but my 1 ounce bottle was gone and I didn't even finish the ball. So I had to finish the rest of it with my Ebonite Factory Finish. The lanes I tried it on were absolutely fried. So, my first true test comes this Monday and Tuesday during league. I shall update more then.

You might get mixed results using both Snake Oil and Ebo Factory Finish polish because Snake Oil has no abrasives and Ebo FF does. SO will add length and backend, especially over Resurrection. Ebo FF will tend to smooth out some of the 800 grit Resurrection lines not a great deal because you did it by hand.

Also because you did it by hand, you won't get as great a length as you might have hoped for.

(Get a spinner it's a worthwhile investment considering how often you post here and the balls you have and what you're doing to them. In fact, what you're trying to do to them is not doable, in a practical sense, without a spinner. It's about 1.5 new balls' worth, with basic supplies being about a another ball's worth. It's worth it in the end.)

Mornin' Jeff.

I am actually saving up for a spinner as we speak. I just got a nice raise at work, and in about a month I should have the money to spend on a spinner, pads,polishes, and whatever else I might need.

Just out of curiosity, what's the difference between by hand and by spinner? Friction would be my guess, but I'm a n00b at this cover stuff

This is just my opinion, but although you might do okay by hand, a spinner spreads/distributes the polish (or whatever) more evenly, as well as the ability to use it more sparingly.

The original sample of Snake Oil (1 oz., I think) has polished 4 balls for me so far, maybe not quite a 5th, but we'll see. I used vitually a nickel sized drop on each side of the ball, then buffed it out all over. The balls look nice, but more importantly, perform better, too, in my opinion. Too much polish applied by hand can clog the pores if you're not careful.

Jeff (charlest) is very skilled at what he does by hand after years of trial and practice. Most new guys tend to make more mess and waste, at first, without using a spinner. Glad to hear that you're going to get a spinner soon.
