Can I decrease flair (hook) with a weight hole?  And if so, how much less flair?

A flare reducing does exactly that reduces flare...go 2.25" inside the pap towards the grip towards the pin

Well maybe it could have been worded better.


A flare reducing Hole does exactly that reduces flare...go 2.25" from the pap towards the grip towards the pin.

Not clear on the "towards the grip towards the pin." part?

is it towards the pin? or towards the grip? if it's in between just where.

If you place a weight hole on the inside of the VAL...which by the way is NOT a straight line but a curve...the flare inverts or tightens instead of increasing
The maximum location would on a line between the pap and the pin but any weight hole placed on the inside towards the grip will minimise flare

I think this is accurate if you are working with a ball that has a pin that is 3 3/8 from the PAP.  I don't think it is going to decrease the flare the same in a 5 1/2" pin to pap ball.

Putting a hole at the low RG axis will decrease the flare the most.  Before drilling, this is the pin. After drilling, the low rg axis usually moves right of the pin a bit.  This depends on the drilling and gripping holes though.

I was assuming that the original poster was talking about a ball that has already been drilled.  If you are looking for minimal flare, of course you do not want to drill a ball at 3.375" pin to PAP and max flare.  The 2.25" from PAP hole may reduce the flare some on a 5.5" pin to PAP ball but that hole isn't going to reduce the flare the same for every pin to PAP.  I think there are better locations to reduce the flare as much as possible for a given ball. Going with a set 2.25" hole from the PAP isn't going to do that.  I'm pretty confident that a hole on the low RG axis, after the ball is drilled, will reduce the flare the most.  Static weights do limit the location and size of the weight hole though, so sometimes that puts limitation on what you can do.
