here is one of the most outdated and archaic rules set by the abc( usbc ): what types of chemicals you can use to clean a bowling ball. these rules were put forth when bowlers were using these chemicals to soften the rubber and plastic coverstocks of the balls to make them hook more. modern bowling balls do not benefit from the use of these chemicals. in fact, soaking a modern bowling ball in a bucket of some of these chemicals will ruin the bowling ball. however, some of these chemicals, in tiny amounts, are very good at cleaning off stubborn stains, scuff marks, and accumulated residues from the lanes and pit area. i have a problem with the usbc telling me that i can't use a particular chemical to clean my $200 investment. if they really cared they would approve something that really works.
