What do I need with my Ball spinner??
« on: April 11, 2005, 10:36:13 AM »
I am going to order the 1/2 horse vertex from buddies soon. I just want to know what else I need to start resurfacing and adjusting surfaces. I have wet/dry sand paper in 400/600/800/1000/1500. Do I just hold the paper with my hand and apply medium pressure to the ball? Or do I need those round discs? I have never used a spinner so what do I need? Thanks, Tim

I have the tub, fits perfect. I also put mine on a Walmart TV rolling stand, about $24, works great, with room for storage below.

If the tub you buy isn't tall enough to completely stop splash out, just cut some cardboard to fit inside the tub and extend high enough to get it.  I use a tub that's deliberately shorter than needed to give me good access in front, then extend the height with cardboard on the other three sides to prevent the splash out from getting on the walls.  I also cut a piece of cardboard to fit between the spinner bowl and motor to keep the motor dry.  That way my apron is the only thing that gets wet.  --  JohnP

legend: If you're still looking for a good visual, look at the following:

http://www.netvista.net/~engel/maintain.htm

Also, if you want a cheap video to get you started on actual technique, get this one:

http://www.innovativebowling.com/video.htm

The above innovative bowling site also has a good starter kit to get you started. At least get the CAB, and if you don't want to use sandpaper, get scotchbrite pads (which also adhere to the CAB). If you can't find the scotchbrite locally, go here:

http://www.wildoctopusbowling.com

And follow the link on the right side to find the pads.

Good luck.
