What's best to clean and THEN rejuvinate ?
« on: January 18, 2005, 07:52:33 AM »
I've been using Ebonite powerhouse energizer cleaner and have also used orange clean, both with great success for oil removal; my question is, what product(s) is best for reenergizing/rejuvinating surface tack by hand application ??? The reason I ask is because with just the cleaners, it takes a game or so to get back my normal ball reaction. Just trying to get smarter here ... BTW, I check the posts in here and didn't say anything that I felt answered this. I realize that dull and shiny and particle shells MAY need different products.
I'm pretty happy with the cleaning aspect ... my real interest here is the followup rejuvination part.

Track's Clean and Dull seems to work very well. It also does not seem to dull polished or pearlized balls as the name might indicate. It seems to be a very deep cleaner.

Rob: The best product I've used for reenergizing/rejuvenating the surface by hand is Khameleon Particle Sand High Tech Ball Restorer (from neotac). It will pick up oil/dirt/grime that powerhouse energizer cleaner can't extract. More important, it truly does 'restore' the cover. See the following link:

http://www.neotac.com/products/ballrestorer/ballrestorer.html

On highly polished balls, it might dull the cover ever so slightly, but a quick follow-up application of neotac Renew-It (also by hand) will bring any lost shine back. On pearlized equipment, I've had great success with Khameleon and Renew-It as a one-two punch.

Charlest suggested Track's Clean and Dull, which I haven't used but have heard great things about. I'm going to pick up a bottle myself to compare the results against the neotac products. However, my understanding is that Clean and Dull is a gel, and I'm not sure how it will stack up against an abrasive like Khameleon.

I just purchased a bottle yesterday. How often do you generally use it? Anyone else. how often do you use it. every 3-6-10-15=20 games, etc.?

I would highly recommend trying the Neo-Tac products as well.  The "Khameleon Particle Sand High Tech Ball Restorer" really works well.  This will pull a lot of "stuff - oil, dirt, etc." from the cover.  Its amazing...  The only downside is that this product dulls the surface of the ball.  Normally when I use this product, I will follow it with Renew-It (another of their products).  This product restores some of the reaction and can act as a polish (if enough pressure is used).

I still stick with Neo Tacs Liquid Nitro for every day cleaning,...and Hook-it for dull stuff, and ReNew It for polished stuff!  The best stuff for BY HAND applicaton! IMHO
