On the grit conversion chart, which most of your probably know about, it refers to scotch-brite hand pads and scotch-brite nylon pads. The nylon section seems to match more closely to what people on here use these for, so what is the difference? How would I know which one I have?

the nylon section.
the above charts on the other two pages are also a good reference to compare it to sandpaper, trizact, and abralon.

I read icewall's reply. I remain confused.
The hand pads use the nylon pads on one side, as far as I know. I have seen the "hand" pads backed by green, blue and white nylon pads, with sponge on the other side. Possibly, "hand" pads mean something else, also. All use US/CAMI grit levels except for the newer Gold Nylon pad which is in the P2000 range (1200 US/Cami grit range).

The only scotchbrite I've seen are the same on both sides, and it's not sponge. I still assume I'm looking at the "nylon" grade.
