Title: Which lasts longer or is a better pad?

Abralon or Siair?
I need to stock up and wondering what the difference is.

I feel sia outlasts abralon easily. Sia is aluminum oxide whereas abralon is silicon carbide. The larger silicon carbide particles break down faster causing the pad to lose its grit value.

Guess you'll have to experiment for yourself. I know sia lasts longer for a fact but everyone will have their opinion.

My experience is that sia air is much more durable.

Thanks the reviews on the pads.
I read some other forums and Wurth pads were mentioned as well as mesh pads. The cost is much lower for either. Has anyone used them long term and compared them to the Siaair or Abralon pads?

I have to also say that sia air pads does last longer overall than abralon. I've been using both for two years and though they both sand very well, I get more durability off of the sia air.

I found the pad info on another bowling website. I have to search for it.
The main point I found while reading the thread was that pads from other hobbies could be used to manipulate the surface of the ball. In this case, it was woodworking. I checked on ebay and 25 Wurth pads were 20 bucks plus shipping. They are 8 inch pads. However, I don't know what grit they are. One other point was the materials of each pad. The opinion was that the Abralon use a type of material that was not quite as durable as the one used by Siaair.

I've been using Siaair pads since they first came on the market and they are holding up better than the Abralon pads that I used to use.
