What's the difference?
« on: June 12, 2008, 02:04:37 AM »
Its been about 5 years or more since I have really been in to bowling but I am finally getting back.  Can anyone tell me what the difference between using a 1000 grit abralon pad, and using 1000 grit wet sanding.  Is there a difference?

EDIT: This link has they priced much higher, and with the P standard:

Thanks Jeff.  The reason why I asked was because of the link in the above quote.  It has the P standard, hence my confusion as to what the actual standard being used was.

I see. I went by the Supergrit catalog.
In any case, I'd call them first to make sure. FOr all I know, Supergrit left off the "P". Industrial supply lists theirs as "P". With what's going on these days, if I were to order, I'd call first.

When I placed a plain order, based solely on supergrit's webpage, I ordered 40 sheets of 600 grit. I got 40 sheets of "P600" grit. I told them their web page di dnot say "P600" and I wanted 600 grit. They issed a call tag to replace the "P600" grit with "P1000" grit which is close enough for my purposes and good customer service.

Better safe than sorry.

FYI I also some 2000 grit and I got plain 2000 grit US. It is even smoother than 4000 grit Abralon, which re-inforces the email oldskool2 got in this thread (that 4000 Abralon is really "P4000" grit, which is equivalent to 2000 grit US scale.

On 7/14/08, I contacted SUPERGRIT.COM directly.

They said SPECIFICALLY, and I quote,
"Rhynowet Redline sheets are graded in FEPA (P) grade."

Sorry, I should have posted this earlier this week. I had forgotten about this topic until I saw your reply today, Gary.
