Best Cleaner EVER?
« on: December 14, 2005, 12:32:21 AM »
Hey I may have stumbled onto something by accident.
Iv always used Clean N dull for all my cleaning and to add a little length Reaction Plus both by Track.
Ive just opened a new bottle of clean N dull about 2 weeks ago. Its different than it used to be. Its now much thicker and more of a gel. Its in a different type of bottle. It looks the same except is a little shinier than the old bottle.
I was using loads of it on my spinner, it just seemed to dissapear off the cloth. I thought I need to thin it down a little so I added about 20% rubbing alcohol to the Clean N dull. I thought Id just try it as id used 20% of the bottle in the 2 weeks.
I cleaned the ball and the cloth was BLACK straight away. A second clean cloth and still a bit of black. Turned the ball over and did the same on the other side. BLACK cloth again. I gave it a wipe with a cloth with just alcohol as I always do. I then gave it a quick wipe with a damp rag as advised on the bottle and I have the tackiest ball Ive ever seen. Its spotless even the black lines in the track are clean and Ive always struggled with those as I bowl on old wood lanes.
Ive never tried adding alcohol to the Clean N dull before but its now so thick that its almost unusable on a spinner.
The reaction was tremendous out on the lanes and it gave me a real pop at the pocket. If you get chance to try it out give it a go especially with this newer type of Clean N dull.
Please dont say theres anything wrong with it as I think I'll be getting through an awful lot of Clean N dull if I cant cut it with the alcohol.

I have gone through probably around 6 or 7 one quart bottles of C&D and have never had any issues with it on a spinner.  I am on a brand new bottle now and it is the lemon/lime scented version (the new type).  It seems to be the same consistency as the others and it works well on my spinner.

On a side note:  I just tried Storm's Reacta Shine on my RS-X and I am in love with it.  Probably the best polish I've seen in a while.

I may have a "rogue" bottle but its definatley different from what I used to get.
Ive used about 10-12 bottles over the last 2 years and theyve all been a runny gel-like consistency. This is definatley much thicker and you have to use a LOT of it to clean a ball on the spinner. About double what I used to use on one ball.
When I get another I'll find out if this was just a rogue one.
