Dumb question, but.........

when a company says that their ball is a factory compound finish,...what does this mean ?? Exaclty.............thx

Usually it means its a paste with an abrasive in it.
for example Storms X-tra finishing compounds which have
different grits available. I'm not sure what they use
for the paste wether its a polish base or simply a
type of paste.

Jeff,

Bob H is correct. We were discussing a Labyrinth. Morich said it was 500 grit compounded. Well, as you know 500 grit is veyr dull and grabby, but the ball wasn't I email Morich for an explanation. Fred Carroll, one of the nicer bowlign guys around, explained this is really a Columbia term. It meant a compund-type of factory "slurry" was used to get the ball smooth and finish it to about 1000/1200 grit smooth finish, like many of Track's power balls these days.

That's a great idea.

I normally throw a few games with a new ball to get comfortable and adjust the surface to what I want from it. I normally does not care what the out of box finish is.
