Driller just would up pretty much flipping the core...you can tell cuz you can see the top of the core thru the finger holes. Funny thing is DynoThane just came out with a new Element with, guess what?
An inverted core...

My understanding is when the flip block ends up on the bottom that the ball is flippier than when on top!
However in picturing this situation...doesn't one need to be aware of top weight!
Or am I not picturing this situation correctly?

Well I assumed my driller did all the measuring and stuff to make sure the ball is within legal limits.
I think you're right about the ball being flippier..the AU79 is supposed to have a fairly angular backend but be farily earl getting into it. Mine takes off hard, but pretty late.
The new element also takes off later and harder (granted it also has a different coverstock) but that would seem to bear out what you've heard.

If the cg is accurately marked, then drawing a line 13.5" from the pin through the cg will give you the exact bottom of the core, in essence flipping the core upside down. Depending on the shape and densities of the core, this could have little or a fairly pronounced effect on reaction. But with a blem, its pretty much the best method for drilling them up. Lay the ball out with the "new" pin and original cg just as you would an other 4.5" pin out balls. I know many people who have and love equipment layed out this way. Its a great opportunity to get decent equipment at a fraction of the cost.
