Layout for Kegal Main Street
« on: September 22, 2012, 04:54:15 PM »
Any ideas on what would be a good layout for the Kegal Main Street Pattern?

I'm, 18mph+, and a tweener. Pap is 5 1/4 over, 1/8 up.

thanks.

Check out the Hammer deep Purple Taboo vid on the different patterns they used it on. Its a very insightful series of vids dealing with layouts and lane conditions of that ball. Its not the greatest but they do use the Main Street for the majority of the vid, along with the Easy Street and High Street (i believe thats what it is called). That will give you a general idea then match your stats to that, however they correlate to the vid.

Righty,

I think it is about the best I have seen on layouts on the web!  Not much out there that is great on this subject but this one is right there!

To me totally depends on ball being used, bowlers stats and lane surface but I can't see many use a $165 ball on a easier house pattern when a $80 to $100 ball would do as well if not better.

Scott,

You missed the purpose of my response. My response was not to hype the taboo purple or a specific layout. It was to give a visual aid as to what the same ball can do with different layouts on one pattern. You can do that with any ball and get your own results with the balls strengths and weaknesses. Obviously with the Purple Taboo, its strength is the back part of the lane, which is why the pin up layout yielded the most "separation" (not hook), meaning movement of the line to the pocket. If you were to do the same with an earlier reading ball then the pin up would more than likely have to be closer to the friction to be more effective. I thought it was just a great vid for guys who have stopped believing in layouts and more so in surface to show that while surface is the major key, layouts can also be a major contributor to what the ball does on the lanes.

Lefty,

Glad you enjoyed it. Im not a fan of hammer but the vid was better than they expected. And again anyone can do this, (and by anyone i mean staffers or ball companies themselves), rather than the fav layout and crossing 39 boards in a lot of the vids we see.

I didn't miss it my point is that most average Joe Hackers could do and score as well with an $80 ball vs. a ball that costs double that.  Houses put out easy lane conditions and high end ball sales will suffer.  No reason to pay high prices for equipment other than if you are rev challenged and high speed.  Ball layout for easy conditions folks can look at LL's 1:30 layout or something in that realm.  Folks get to hung up when laying out for easier conditions.  I tend to agree with riggs in too many bowlers putting strong layouts on equipment.....it just isn't needed for the majority.  Every case should be taken case by case per individual with stats. input.  Crap in and you get crap out.  Hence I ONLY use the best driller in my area or actually in my state.

Back to the OP need to know more info. to get better information from posters.  Rev rate, tilt, axis rotation, ball speed where measured off hand or at backend, lane surface.

I got the point but Whoopee de do on Hammer's layouts in the vid.  That info has been known for years.   Maybe not for folks that are novices and just learning.   For them it's a learning tool for the rest of us re-hash.

Does your driller use a DeTerminator?  Mine does.  Not that every driller is going to have one but it leaves another factor in the layout equation.

You still don't need a $165 ball to compete on a house wall.   ;)

Scott, what the heck does a determinator have to do with a layout or vid on a ball that is rolled on the main street pattern?  ;D Apparently, it isnt a walled house shot if theyve got a cranker with strong asym pearl and he's not in front of the ball return. There is some oil out there in the world. And AGAIN!  ;), not saying he has to go out a buy a high end piece to bowl on this pattern, the vid just correlates with the pattern he was asking about and I figured it would be a great way to give him an idea of what he can throw and the layout that can give him a general look on the lanes with obvious corrective properties.

Way to be a fuddy duddy Scott! Lol! Just playing
