Hi all,

Lots of information needed for this post due to the difficulty of the customer. Customer is an older gentleman with slow ball speed, low revs, somewhat of a spinner type (lower track). The "THS" here is heavier oil with not very sharp backends and out of bounds on the 1-3 board.

We are having a tough time finding a layout & ball to maximize his "mistake room" as he is only a 160 avg player. Have tried everything from a polished symetric pin up to a 2000 grit asymetric pin down. Seems like he always has an over/under reaction with any ball & layout we try.

The goal is to maximize his mistake room and carry % to allow him to better enjoy the game. We all know how frustrating it is to leave flat 10 after flat 10.

Any advice as to a bowling ball & drilling layout to accomplish this goal is appreciated!

Judging by your username, I assume you are a big fan of this layout. Have you seen success w/ RICO layout & the type of bowler I described? Also, do you reccomend any specific ball?

The bowling ball I'd recommend is the one I suggested...not knowing the customers likes and dislikes or better yet, brand specific, therefore I gave a recommendation on cover & numbers to narrow down.

I would lean towards an LT48 Vintage, a Dude, a Lights Out, the UpRoar to name a few

Thank you Ric. I had no idea that was you! Great to get the advice from the expert. I think we will put him in a Lights Out or Misfit. He is more comfortable going up the boards than looping it, therefore I'm hoping a weaker shell will allow him to do that. Excited to see how it reacts.

Out of curiosity on the weight hole mention of 7/8" and 2.5" deep for reaction.. Does going deeper make the ball react sooner?

 If yes, is that common for flare increasing x-holes when going from 2.5" to 3.5" or greater?
