Neg side and thumb weight
« on: March 03, 2005, 09:20:37 AM »
In the proverbial old days, neg side would make a ball turn sooner, and so would thumb, but both were well known to kill a ball's power.
What's the modern day update to this principle, both in probability of noticeable effect making the ball turn earlier and the impact on performance?

for me the best all around controlable drilling I can get is with the pin in or under ring and cg swung to the negative side anoud 1/2".

I have found it to work best with shorter pins 1-2" range. If you made me carry only one ball for all lanes this is how I would set it up.

I had 3 balls drilled like this and both hit and carried well. I did have two of the same balls at one time. one drilled like this and the other leverage.
the ball with the neagtive gave me a nice controlled arc motion and carried as well as the other ball. the big snappy ball did have more area, naturally.
