Brunswick Drilling 3L & 4L and Ebonite Xcel Pearl
« on: October 22, 2007, 01:15:09 AM »
Let me start of by saying even though I have often disagreed with Brunswick theories as to WHY their drillings work....I have often used their drill sheets with success.

I had been looking for go long drillings at a house I bowl at (at least for practice with little push after the arrows(they don't oil there before league putting out ONLY 14 foot head shot right before league...yuch!).

I had tried 4L on an Ebonite Xcel (with CG near grip center say 1/3 ounce sideweight and mass bias touching thumb...we don't want ANY midlane at this house the lane supplies it!).  The ball was frankly just MILD and meek. Pin about 1 1/2 inches ABOVE my ring finger(about 5 3/4 pin to PAP for me)

I had seen this ball look great for a few occassional righties in this house.

So I saw the smarts in the Brunswick drill sheet and noing I wanted push but more backend(usually carrydown and slop in the last 15 feet at this house) I converted the 4L to a 3L.  I only went 1 inch deep with my 31/32 drill bit as to the already low side weight.

Can you say MONSTER.  Though if one has the slightest pull and dont drive the ball hard out wide of 8 at the break point at this house one will cross over.

If one gets into the proper break zone out near 8 balls struggle to carry.
Not this power house.  I had anywhere from 1 to 8 at the break to smash the pocket and most carried from this monster.

This strong unsung ball reacts similar in this house to my much more strongly drilled Sonic Boom in this house (4 X 4 with pin as high as ring for this much higher RG ball).  But there is probably a little more continuation and a few boards more area from the much stronger cored Xcel!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I just hope they don't tell me that Brunswick drillings don't work on Ebonite balls!
PPS drill 3L for length and if too weak...add that powering weighthole!  Cool!

Good job, X-Holes can fine tune a reaction you're looking for.
Where was the X-Hole located according to your PAP?
Methinks past PAP?

Why are you using symmetric layouts on a asymmetric ball?

Ummmm, love some of these guys on this site.

Was well aware of where the mass bias was...and was tweaking the ball for final tuning.

As many know putting mass bias under the thumb(at least per Mo Pinel) takes much of the mass bias effect out.

See SuperSymmetric drilling from Mo Pinel...Brainiacs...

Ball is reacting great...is that not the objective?

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS observers of the new ball reaction loved it also!

Imagine, being so weak in personality that you have to create IDs to chase after other guys!  SAd.

Look at this guy Mr. CrankMeisters profile...

"Lefty Lucky's polar opposite personality.

Smart, unbiased and rational."

An ID created solely to follow me around the site....How SAD for you.  What a very very small person you are....

Comparing smart great posters like Bob Hanson to this on this site is like comparing mountains to pits.  Or in this case the bottom of a pit!

AND with the complete approval of site management this guys wayward comments as he has been reported many times.

Could he be either a pro bowler, company rep, or a member of one of the affiliated companies of this site is my assumption though I can't prove it.  Operating with complete protection of the site.  All I know is after I reported his comments last time which would have had any of us kicked off this site...this new rule was created..

Sweet...if one doesn't have the courage to post under one name.

As to teabagging it must be a Gay term that I am unfamiliar with but he seems to be very familiar with.

You really think someone has it out for you, don't you?

I'm quite familiar with the Super Symmetric layouts from Mo, but if I'm supposed to reference them, why are you talking about Brunswick symmetric ball layouts?

Your train of thoughts are so scatter brained someone would have to read 3 of your posts on a topic to actually see the picture you're trying to draw.

Here's a link for you... if you don't like it here, feel free to use it frequently!
